From basket ball to jazz piano - a serious challenge to two of his role models, Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau

Yaron Herman was a talented basket ball player on the Israeli national junior team, but had to end his career because of a severe knee injury. Luckily so, to many of us, because Yaron began to play the piano, and his talent became evident quite rapidly. In Israel, he won talent awards and gave concerts in the most prestigious halls. But wanting to travel the world, he left for Boston and the Berklee College of Music. Because his studies there proved less inspiring than he had expected, he decided to go home, by way of Paris. One jam session later, Yaron had turned into a Parisian. He is still there, beloved by the French who have adopted him and given him numerous awards for fantastic recordings and concerts - for very good reasons. At the age of 29, he has made 5 albums to the delight of both the public and the media. Regardless of which continent he plays, people of all ages are enthused by his charisma, his enthusiasm and his lyric piano playing.

In 2007, he showed himself capable of reaching out to an audience way beyond jazz circles when he and his trio produced the album A Time for Everything, a mix of jazz, pop and his own songs, comprising cover songs such as Toxic by Britney Spears and Message in a Bottle by Sting. Yaron Herman is considered an exceptional phenomenon, quite a serious challenge to two of his great role models, Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau.
