Ivar Kolve trio

There aren’t too many Norwegian trios featuring vibraphone in the lead role. But in Ivar Kolve’s trio it does. The mallet master from Voss has released three albums to resounding critical acclaim, been the recipient of the Vossajazzprisen accolade and teamed up with virtuoso co-musicians Stein Inge Brækhus on drums and Sebastién Dubé on double bass. This is an exceptionally sturdy trio, delivering contemporary jazz inspired by their versatile backgrounds and flirting with everything from folk, classical ethnic and electronic music, to rock and funk.

Kolve has studied at the Bergen Conservatory of Music and with the distinguished American vibraphonist Dave Samuels. An exciting trio awaits us, not least Kolve’s investigative zeal for his instrument’s many possibilities.
