Cyro Baptista Banquet of the Spirits

We really wanted to invite Brazilian drummer Cyro Baptista back following last year’s concert success with the Bjergsted Jazz Ensemble. It's therefore a pleasure to see him once again, this time with his Banquet of the Spirits quartet.

Three of the band - drummer and percussionist Tim Keiper, bassist and oudist Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz and keyboardist/accordionist Brian Marsella - are among New York’s most cutting edge talents. Delivering world music in the true meaning of the concept, the result is a product of all the sounds and musical impulses they have amassed and utilised over the years. Audiences might be musically challenged in identifying the precise geographical, cultural or religious source of the material. But cast aside doubt and prepare to be enveloped with energy and fascinating rhythm, performed with contagious enthusiasm, technical brilliance, eccentricity and humour. Jazz with a real exotic groove!
