Tytingvåg/Roalkvam/Fuglestad

Randi Tytingvåg is passionate and red hot about everything she does and believes in. When she’s made up her mind about a good idea, she normally sees it realised. In the autumn of 2009 Tytingvåg hit on the concept of publishing lyrics from her most recent album RED in Norwegian and in poetic form - a sort of lyric book. She contacted publishers Bokforlaget who warmed to the idea and together they began to bring it to fruition. With his sensitivity to and intimacy with the lyrics, Stavanger’s Gunnar Roalkvam embraced the Norwegian interpretation in close collaboration with Tytingvåg. The stories in her writing convey themselves strongly in Norwegian and the questions they pose become more direct - the filter is removed.

Artist Cathrine Fuglestad has illustrated the book and used the music and the Norwegian lyrics as a palette. Together with readings by Roalkvam and music from Tytingvåg and her pianist Anders Aarum, Fuglestad’s works on canvas form the visual frame for the launch and are on display at Café Sting throughout May.
